He obtained Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, M.E (Honours) in Analysis and Design of Process Equipments, and Ph.D. degree in Development, Analysis and Design of Glass-Fibre Reinforced Plastics Pressure Vessel from Allahabad University, India. Basically he is a Mechanical Engineer but he has also specialised in Automobile Engineering discipline. He also obtained Diploma in French language. Presently, Dr. K. M. Gupta is serving as a Professor in Applied Mechanics Department, Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) Allahabad, India. Earlier he has served as Dean of Research & Consultancy, and Head of the Applied Mechanics Department at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad, India.

Professor K.M.Gupta has over 38 years of teaching, research and consultancy experience. He has authored 25 books on Engineering subjects, the main among them being on ‘Materials Science, Metallurgy and Engineering Materials’,’ Electrical and Electronics Materials’, ‘Automobile Engineering’, ‘Internal Combustion Engines’ etc., and a chapter entitled ‘Starch Based Composites for Packaging Applications’ . He has also authored 82 research papers in reputed National and International journals and Conferences to his credit. He has presented his research papers in many International conferences at USA, UK, Japan, China, Muscat, Bangkok etc. He has also chaired the two International Conferences at China. In recognition to his academic contribution at International level, Marquis Publication (USA) has included him in the list of “World Who’s Who in Science and Engineering 2007” and “Who’s Who in World 2008”. The International Biographical Centre, a leading research Institute (Great Britain) has also elected him as one of the” 2000 Outstanding  Scientists 2009” from across the world; and Rifacimento International Publisher has included his biographical note in “Reference Asia: Asia’s Who’s Who of Men and Women of Achievement”.

Recipient of many Gold Medals and Prizes for his outstanding career from lowest engineering education level  ‘Diploma’ to highest level ‘ Doctorate’ (a rare achievement in this country); he had earlier served as Head of Automobile Engineering Department at The Institute of Engineering and Rural Technology, Allahabad. He masterminded the development of several laboratories viz. Materials Science Lab, Strength of Materials  Lab etc. Prof Gupta had undergone several Industrial Trainings at many Industries and Workshops. He is endowed with vast experience in Curriculum Development activities and consultancy. Presently, he is teaching Materials Science, Engineering Mechanics, Thermodynamics of Materials etc. Currently, his research interests are in the fields of Materials Science, Composite Materials, Stress Analysis, Solid Mechanics etc.
